The Ramayana is one of the great Hindu epics.
Ramayana has 24 thousand verses. There are 6 kandas in total, viz., Bala, Ayodhya, Aranya, Kishkinda, Sundara, Juddha Kandas, one kanda out of 6 kandas, Uttara Kanda. Ramayana is called Adikavyam. If Rama's avatara came only for demon killing, then his avatara should end after killing Ravana, but he made a vow in Balakanda, that is, "Dasavarsha Sahasrani Dasavarsha Satanicha", I will stay on this earth for eleven thousand years and rule over all this earth.
